Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate is a homopolymer of the acryloyldimethyltaurate monomer (where the counterion is ammonium), used as a rheology modifier, viscosity controller, and emulsion stabilizer in cosmetic products including serums and sunscreens. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel assessed the safety of 21 acryloyldimethyltaurate polymers as a group in a Final Report finalized April 2017, concluding that these ingredients are safe in cosmetics in the present practices of use and concentration described in that safety assessment. The CIR panel expressed concern about residual impurities including acrylamide and methacrylamidolauric acid monomers and stressed that cGMPs should be applied to limit such impurities. No ingredient-specific PubMed literature was identified for this homopolymer by name.
